Aaron Wan-Bissaka is desperate to force his way into Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of next summer’s Euros and will resist switching allegiances to DR Congo, according to reports.

The right back has not made a senior appearance for the Three Lions after he was forced to withdraw from the squad when he received his only call-up to date last August.

The defender still qualifies for DR Congo having not made a senior appearance for England but will turn down the chance to switch allegiances.

Wan-Bissaka played one game for DR Congo’s Under 20 side in 2015 but has since represented England at the same level and has also played for the Under 21 team.

The right back has started the season strongly despite being left out of United’s starting XI for the opening game against his former side Crystal Palace.
