PATRICK VAN AANHOLT revealed that he tried to get Sergio Ramos to join Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day.
The Dutch defender, 28, shared a snap of himself posing alongside the Real Madrid veteran, 33, to his Instagram page.
He wrote the caption: “Agent PVA tried to do a madness on deadline day but Serg told me as much as he loves Souf Landan he can’t leave his beloved Madrid.”
One fan cheekily replied: “The best defender in world footballer and Sergio Ramos.”
Another added: “It was worth a try king.”
Palace fans would have welcomed the arrival of the 33-year-old after their side spent just £5million during the transfer window.
Despite not splashing the cash, the Eagles managed to sign Jordan Ayew, Stephen Henderson, Gary Cahill, Victor Camarasa, and James McCarthy.
They lost Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a £50million switch to Manchester United, but have managed to cling onto wantaway striker Wilfried Zaha.
Regardless of Van Aanholt’s best efforts, it does not look like Ramos will be lured away from the Bernabeu anytime soon.
