ALEXIS SANCHEZ kept his cool from the spot the fire Chile into Copa America semi-finals.
The Manchester United forward held his nerve to secure a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory over Colombia last night.
Sanchez proved to be spot-on as he sealed victory following a goalless draw in Sao Paulo.
The reigning champions will now meet either Uruguay or Peru in the last four.
William Tesillo proved to be the fall guy for Colombia, pulling his spot-kick wide of the post.
That allowed the reigning champions and Sanchez to take advantage by rifling home past goalkeeper David Ospina.
And Chile star Charles Aranguiz felt the triumph was just reward after his side dominated throughout.
He said: “I think we had opportunities [during the game].
“We didn’t take them and we had to do it on penalties.
“Our team is confident when it comes to penalties, we have won two finals on penalties.
“So that gives us energy.”
Chile survived a problematic start after their team bus got caught in traffic pre-match in the Corinthians area.
That delayed kick off by 20 minutes as more than 40,000 supporters waited for action.
But in a bad-tempered game littered by fouls it was them who had the best opportunities to win it in normal time.

Both Arganguiz and Vidal thought they had broken the deadlock – only to be denied by VAR.
Barcelona ace Vidal said afterwards: “It’s difficult because you’re going at 100 miles an hour and then they annul two goals.
“But we kept our heads and won it on the penalties.
“We deserved it.”
Sanchez and his Chile team-mates are now looking to earn a spot in the final against either hosts Brazil or Argentina.
