If you were thinking of buying an Amazon Echo it might be worth putting your money back in your pocket.
These popular smart speakers look set to get a massive price cut next month with Amazon confirming that its big Prime Day sale is taking place in a few weeks’ time.
Prime Day always offers some decent reductions but Amazon is boasting that this sale will bring the biggest Prime Day deals ever on Alexa-enabled devices.
There’s no official word on how much cheaper these speakers will be in the sale but expect some saving across all of the range including the Echo, Echo Show, Echo Spot and Echo Dot.
The sale will start from July 15 and, for the first time, it will last for a full 48-hours giving customers more time to grab the deals.
“Get ready, as we pull back the curtain to reveal exclusive products, special performances and two full days of phenomenal deals this Prime Day,” said Jeff Wilke, Amazon CEO Worldwide Consumer.
“Our vision is that Prime Day should be the absolute best time to be a member – when you can enjoy shopping, savings, entertainment and some of the best deals Prime members have ever seen.
“Stay tuned as we reveal thousands of new product launches, as well as world-class entertainment and more, leading up to Prime Day on July 15 and 16.”
It’s worth remembering that to take advantage of these offers you’ll need to be a Prime customer.
If you have one of these accounts then Amazon has confirmed that his year’s Prime Day sale will be available in the U.K., U.S., Spain, Singapore, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, India, Germany, France, China, Canada, Belgium, Austria, Australia and – new this year – United Arab Emirates.
The news of these discounts come as Amazon is now offering a new addition to the Echo family.
The new Echo Show 5 went on sale last week and it arrives packing all the usual Alexa-powered smart skills but it also adds a 5.5-inch screen and in-built camera to mix.
As well as offering that display there’s also some decent speakers which Amazon says offers rich and full audio.
A new smart home dashboard is also included which gives you even more control over compatible smart home devices and groups. You can also view your smart home camera feed and thermostats, access recently used devices, and manage smart devices by group.
Amazon has also now added an ambient lighting mode which auto-adjusts the brightness of the screen based on the light in the room.
