Bentitez’s exit led to uproar from fans while players are also considering their future.

Goal report striker Perez is amongst those weighing up his options after La Liga outfit Valencia registered interest in the Spaniard.

It is understood Valencia are braced to bid for the 25-year-old hitman – though Newcastle value the player at £22million – thought to be too pricey.

The striker wants a move back to Spain with Champions League football at the Mestalla Stadium secured for next season.

Perez is joined by striker Salamon Rondon, whose Newcastle career looks uncertain after SunSport revealed The Toon will not make his transfer from West Brom permanent.

Rondon, 29, wanted to make his loan move to St James’ Park permanent – and boss Benitez was desperate to sign him.

But St James Park chiefs have always been reluctant to pay big money for a player who turns 30 in September.

And even though West Brom may now be prepared to sell Rondon for less than his £16.5m release clause, the Toon will not be pursuing him, especially now his biggest fan Benítez has gone.

Defender Federico Fernandez criticised the club’s handling of Benitez’s contract saga and is now open to offers.

While sought-after centre-half Fabian Schar and keeper Martin Dubravka would also listen to an approach.

Midfielder Isaac Hayden wants to leave for family reasons.
