GARETH BALE had abuse hurled at him by his own fans as Real Madrid made hard work of Eibar at the Bernabeu.
The Galacticos needed two second-half goals from Karim Benzema to take the points after Marc Cardona had put Eibar ahead in the first-half but it was Bale’s performance that was the focus of fans’ scrutiny.
Benzema headed in Marco Asensio’s cross to equalise before the Frenchman doubled his tally with another header ten minutes from time.
Bale was jeered throughout by the home fans and his turgid performance included many misplaced passes that were all met with whistles.
Caught offside twice in the first ten minutes, the volume of the whistles went up on half an hour as the Welshman dragged a shot well wide.
There is a real sense in Madrid that Bale will leave in the summer and the 29-year-old’s attitude seemed to reflect that during the game.
Many Twitter users also reacted to the news with many suggesting the fans were right to boo.
Felix Keith said: At the Bernabeu where Gareth Bale is playing atrociously and is being whistled like crazy.
“Missed a one-on-one and has given the ball away countless times.
Another added: “Gareth Bale substituted and as always whistles at the Bernabeu…
“I’m guessing this is his last season at Real Madrid.”
