Bale laughs on Real Madrid bench as rivals Atletico smash SEVEN past Zidane’s flops ahead of £1m-a-week China transfer

GARETH BALE couldn’t helped smirking on the Real Madrid bench as Atletico thumped Los Blancos 7-3 in New York earlier today.

The Welshman came on the pitch in the second half despite being on the verge of completing his big money move to China.

Real Madrid were five goals down at half-time thanks to hat-trick hero Diego Costa, Joao Felix and Angel Correra in a bonkers game at the MetLife Stadium.

But Bale, 30, was seemingly in high spirits despite his colleagues suffering humiliation at the hands of their bitter Madrid rivals.

The Welshman was seen chuckling from the bench before replacing Marcelo Vieira in the 62th minute – with Real losing 6-1 at the time.

And he smiled while already on the pitch as, three minutes after, Costa – having netted his fourth – was given his marching orders.

Los Blancos coach Zinedine Zidane said last week “it would be best for everyone” if the former Spurs ace left the club as soon as possible.

And Bale seems to be having the last laugh as he is closing in on his shock move to China worth £1MILLION a week before tax.

The Welshman has been locked in talks with Jiangsu Suning over a three-year deal that would end his Real Madrid nightmare.

Jiangsu are based in Nanjing, population over six million, and they hope to make a formal announcement over the weekend.

But he is expecting a late offer from at least one other club with the Chinese window shutting on Wednesday night.

The mind-boggling offer is a three-year deal meaning it is worth over £150m before tax.
