  • England v Barbarians CALLED OFF after players ignored Covid rules

The Barbarians who broke strict Covid protocols this week may be charged with bringing the game into disrepute after they forced the cancellation of Sunday’s England game.

RFU chiefs pulled the plug on the fixture after learning of two separate breaches.

On Tuesday a group of seven players left their London hotel to go to the pub, the night before Chris Robshaw and 11 others dined out in a restaurant.

Although none have tested positive, the RFU were concerned any incubating infections could jeopardise the Six Nations match against Italy a week on Saturday and Autumn Nations Cup fixtures.

Prince Harry’s former bodyguard, who was working for Barbarians, was alerted to the double breach.

The cancellation will have a huge impact on the RFU, who are already set to lose £100million of revenue due to the pandemic.

A spokesperson said: ‘An ongoing investigation is looking into players who signed up to a code of conduct which included not leaving the hotel without permission.’
