Robert Pattinson is reportedly in talks to be the next Batman in the upcoming movie The Batman. According to Variety, Pattinson will play the vigilante in the standalone movie, directed by War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves. Variety also reported that Pattinson was Reeves’ preferred choice, but Warner Brothers executives weren’t entirely convinced.
The studio was reportedly “torn between him and Nicholas Hoult,” according to Deadline.
The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez has reported that both Hoult and Pattinson are being screen tested by Warner Bros for Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman solo movie.
He tweeted: “BATMAN UPDATE: Robert Pattinson & Nicholas Hoult are screen testing for the role.”
He added: “I suspect they’re screen testing in the Batsuit because Wardrobe Department will need full wardrobe test.
“Additionally, the film will now start production in Q1 2020.”
Whether Pattison or Hoult takes the helm, they will be replacing Ben Affleck who previously starred as Batman.
Ben Affleck donned the cape as the vigilante hero in two films, the 2016 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017 Justice League.
Robert Pattinson found fame following his role as Edward Cullen in the cult teenage vampire movie franchise Twilight alongside Kristen Stewart.
The vampire series was comprised of five films, Twilight (2008), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part one (2011) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part two (2012).
