Bayern Munich ask Barcelona about Philippe Coutinho but loan deal hinges on whether PSG will sell Neymar back to Catalans

The ex-Liverpool man has struggled for form in Catalonia and was reportedly offered to Premier League clubs before the English window slammed shut on August 8.

And according to reports in Spain, after Coutinho rejected a move to Spurs last week, the German champions made an approach.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim Bayern want a loan deal with an option to buy given the 27-year-old’s huge wages.

The German and Spanish transfer windows do not close until September 2 but reports suggest the deal hinges on Neymar’s potential return to the Nou Camp.

Barca were said to have offered Coutinho in a player-plus-cash deal for their former attacker and view Neymar, 27, as an ideal replacement for the ex-Liverpool man.

Their bitter rivals Real Madrid are also interested in the superstar Brazilian but Barca do not have the money to beat Real to Neymar in a straight fight.

PSG chief Thomas Tuchel has not given up on keeping wantaway Neymar, despite RMC claiming talks over an exit are at an advanced stage.

The Brazil talisman was booed by angry fans after sitting out his side’s Ligue 1 opener.

But Tuchel admits he is still trying to persuade him to stay after watching Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavania and Angel Di Maria strike in a 3-0 rout of Nimes.
