THE sun is shining bright and my outlook for racing on Friday is even brighter.
I reckon I’ve got some crackers lined up for the afternoon’s action.
4.10 Lord Lamington – Destroyed his opposition in a lower grade at Newcastle last time out, earning a big rise in the weights.
However, he gets in here under just a 6lb penalty and is theoretically very well handicapped.
This is a different surface but he should be able to account for these as most are returning from long breaks and have plenty to prove.
He’s unexposed and trainer Mark Johnston is flying at the moment.

2.40 Newtown Lad – Produced a very nice performance at Chepstow last week, dominating from the front and never looking in any danger.
That was a big step in the right direction as he’d been out of form for a good while and he can follow up off 7lb higher.
He’s well-handicapped on his old form and this looks a very good opportunity considering most of his rivals are in pretty poor nick.

Newcastle 8.30 – Jan Van Hoof (Click here to see the best prices and place your bet)
3.55 Flowery – Iain Jardine’s seven-year-old has improved leaps and bounds this year and was very impressive in a weaker contest at Sedgefield last time.
More positive tactics appeared to work wonders and if he goes forward again then they may not catch him.
He needs to defy a hefty rise but this extra distance could eke out even more improvement.
8.30 Jan Van Hoof – Won on his penultimate start before being given too much to do last time out off his revised mark.
Provided he’s produced at an earlier stage this time he should be too strong for this weaker field.
