Joe Biden condemned President Donald Trump’s relentless attacks against his son Hunter Biden in a new podcast interview, calling it ‘crass’ to go after a rival’s family.
Trump has repeatedly disparaged the Democratic’s nominee’s son in the final days leading up to the election, claiming that Hunter made millions of dollars from overseas business dealings because his father was vice president.
In a Pod Save America episode released Saturday, Biden was asked why he hasn’t hit back at Trump by highlighting how the president’s own children have profited from his office.
‘It’s a specific decision. I just think it’s crass,’ Biden said.
‘I’m running against Donald Trump, not his children, and the American people want to hear about their families, not about Trump’s family or my family, although I’m very proud of my family.’
‘It’s just not how I was raised. It’s that basic. It’s Donald Trump.’

The Biden camp has firmly denied allegations that Hunter leveraged his father’s position in the wake of a bombshell New York Post story claiming that emails found on Hunter’s laptop could purportedly implicate Joe in his embattled son’s international business dealings during his time as vice president.
Meanwhile Biden’s allies have been quick to remind Trump of the old adage about people in glass houses – charging that the president’s children have raked in millions of dollars in overseas business dealings during his tenure in office.
Trump’s eldest sons, Eric and Don Jr, run the Trump Organization, a group of about 500 business entities worldwide that is owned by the president and brings in tens of millions of dollars each year.
Daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared are both senior advisers to the president, which Democrats say poses a conflict of interest with their businesses.
Though Biden says he doesn’t want to go after Trump’s children now, he has criticized Ivanka and Jared’s government roles in the past.
In a 60 Minutes interview last fall, Biden said it was ‘improper’ for a president to give his daughter and son-in-law White House positions.
‘If I get elected president, my children are not going to have offices in the White House,’ he said. ‘My children are not going to sit in on Cabinet meetings.’
Jared hit back at the time, saying that his role in the Trump administration was essential for ‘cleaning up the messes that Vice President Biden left behind’.
Ivanka also rejected the idea that her family has unfairly benefited from her father’s presidency, saying that their financial success predates his time in office.
‘His wealth, and our wealth, collectively and independently, was created prior to government service and prior to anyone in our lives having run for elected office,’ Ivanka told the Associated Press last year.
‘Most people do create their wealth post service. We created ours prior.’

Eric and Don Jr have been leading the attacks on Hunter in the wake of the New York Post exposé – which suggested that the VP’s son arranged a meeting between a Ukranian businessman and his father when he was in office.
Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani presented the Post with a trove of emails on a laptop purportedly belonging to Hunter.
The emails, which are under investigation by the FBI but have not been officially verified, showed Hunter making an effort to introduce his father to an adviser at Ukrainian gas firm Burisma – where Hunter served on the board – before the then-vice president lobbied for the firing of a prosecutor who had investigated the company.
Burisma adviser Vadym Pozharskyi thanked Hunter for ‘an opportunity to meet your father’ in an email sent in 2015, according to the Post.
Hours after the story landed, the Biden camp blasted the report, and said a records search indicated no such meeting occurred.

Biden spokesman Andrew Bates said the paper ‘never asked the Biden campaign about the critical elements of this story…moreover, we have reviewed Joe Biden’s official schedules from the time and no meeting, as alleged by the New York Post, ever took place’.
‘Investigations by the press, during impeachment, and even by two Republican-led Senate committees whose work was decried as ‘not legitimate’ and political by a GOP colleague have all reached the same conclusion: that Joe Biden carried out official US policy toward Ukraine and engaged in no wrongdoing. Trump Administration officials have attested to these facts under oath,’ Bates said.
Trump’s campaign seized on the Biden campaign’s response, claiming it constituted confirmation of the material on Hunter’s hard drive was real, even as some outside observers raised the prospect it could have been hacked or altered.
In an attempt to keep the story at the forefront of Thursday night’s debate, Trump invited Hunter’s former business partner, Tony Bobulinski, as one of his guests.
Bobulinski, who claims he at one point managed the Bidens’ foreign business portfolio, spoke to the press ahead of the debate and accused the nominee of lying when he said he never discussed business dealings with his son.
The Ukraine email is just one among a trove being seized upon by Giuliani and his team.
Giuliani lawyer Bob Costello said there are some 40,000 emails on the hard drive including thousands of texts. It also includes images of Hunter ‘in very compromising positions,’ Costello told Fox News.

On Saturday night, Hunter’s alleged sex tapes and images showing him using drugs and engaging in sexual acts with several women were uploaded to a Chinese digital video platform linked to former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.
The videos and images appeared to be uploaded by a single user on GTV, which is a subsidiary of GTV Media Group, founded by Bannon and Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui in April 2020.
It’s not clear if the footage came from Biden’s alleged ‘laptop from hell’, but some images appear to be from a third party laptop.
One of the uploaded videos accused Joe Biden of being controlled by China saying: ‘US presidential candidate Joe Biden is 100% controlled by the Chinese Communist Party as one of the most successful political instances of the BGY program.’
‘He is also a target of the CCP’s 3F plan, which aims to “fall, fail, and fell,” to weaken, destroy and kill America!’ the clip says, according to the Washington Examiner.
The footage has also been censored on Reddit. There does not appear to be any confirmation that the footage or images are legitimate.
