BREAKING: Brit dad dies after Zante stag do fight

A Brit dad who was left in a critical condition following an assault in Zante has died.

The 35-year-old, who is thought to be from the Somerset area, was on the Greek party island for a stag do.

Reports suggest the father-of-two, who is yet to be named, was having drinks at the Laganas bar late last Thursday night when he was set upon by two blokes.

The fracas is said to have spilled onto the street where the man was repeatedly punched and sustained serious head injuries.

He was airlifted to a hospital in Athens the following day where he remained in a critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit.

A video, which has circulated on social media, shows a man wearing a T-shirt, approached by two shirtless men.

One of the bare chested men is seen punching the him in the head, causing him to fall backwards off the pavement and onto the road.

Greek media outlets are reporting that two men, aged 22 and 25, have been arrested in connection with the assault.

A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed his death today.

A spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Greece, and are in contact with the Greek authorities.”

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is also assisting Greek authorities with their enquiries.

Greek media outlets are reporting that two men, aged 22 and 25, have been arrested in connection with the assault.
