The UFC star was walking away from a hotel in Miami Beach, Florida when a fan tried to take a picture with his mobile phone.

According to a Miami Beach Police report, McGregor “slapped” the fan’s phone out of his hand, stamping on it several times.

He then picked up the phone — worth $1,000 (£755) — and walked away with it.

Police said the Irish fighter, 30, was charged with felony strong-armed robbery and misdemeanour criminal mischief.

The report said McGregor and the fan were walking out of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel — home to the famous LIV nightclub — at around 5am on Monday morning when the crimes allegedly took place.

The alleged altercation was captured on CCTV at the scene.

In the report, the arresting officer said: “The victim and the defendant were exiting the Fontainebleau Hotel and the victim attempted to take a picture of the defendant with his cell phone.”

McGregor was arrested later in the day when police found him at a house in Miami Beach.

The colourful fighter was booked into a jail in Miami-Dade County on Monday night.

He had been in South Florida on holiday as he prepares for his UFC comeback.

Several days ago, he shared pictures on Instagram of a night out at the Versace Mansion on South Beach where he celebrated his mum’s 60th birthday.

McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion, famously fought and lost to boxing legend Floyd Mayweather back in August 2017.
