BREAKING: Man in his 20s dies after horror taxi smash in early hours of morning

A MAN has died after a horrific taxi crash in the early hours of this morning.

The victim was a passenger in a Ford Fiesta involved in a serious collision with a Ford S-Max private hire taxi. 

Cops raced to the scene of the crash, in the West Derby area of Liverpool, around 1am this morning. 

A 19-year-old woman in same car as the victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. 

Police arrested a 25-year-old man at the scene who was taken to hospital for treatment.

“This is clearly a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life and others have been injured.”

Two men who were in the S-Max were also treated for injuries at the scene. 

Police confirmed the victim was in his 20s. 

The road has since been reopened as enquiries continue to establish how the tragedy happened.

Roads Policing Sergeant Ged Farley told the Liverpool Echo: “This is clearly a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life and others have been injured.

“Specialist officers will be supporting the victim’s family and all of those affected as we seek to discover exactly what happened.”

Police are urging anyone with information or who could have captured the incident on dashcam or CCTV to call 101 quoting ref 70 of 29 June or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
