The deadly snake escaped from its cage in the early hours of the morning.

It’s believed to have been kept as a pet in Kings Hedges – just a mile from some of Cambridge University’s famous colleges.

Police say they have traced the owner but not the snake which weighs around 50kg, around 8lbs, and is worth around £250.

Experts say the reticulated python originate in south east Asia.

They have been known to prey on humans.
