Scotland Yard say three men have been arrested over the broad daylight raid on The Hour House store near Oxford Street in central London.
Armed robbers had stormed the luxury watch shop this morning while former Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews was shopping inside.
They ransacked the shop and swiped a haulage of expensive watches as a terrified Spencer fled downstairs and hit in a vault.
Up to four offenders, said to be armed with weapons, were seen looting the shop before fleeing on scooters. They had fled before police arrived.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement this evening, confirming the three arrests: “Detectives investigating a smash and grab raid at a jewellery store in Duke Street have made three arrests.
“Police were called at 10:32hrs on Tuesday, 28 May following reports that men armed with weapons drove to the premises on mopeds and smashed a window before stealing goods and fleeing.
“Officers attended, including specialist firearms colleagues.
“Three men have been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and remain in custody at a north London police station.
“A member of the public, aged in his 30s, was treated for a minor injury; this has been assessed as non life threatening or life-changing.
“Enquiries are continuing.”
Spencer revealed his scary experience in London’s Marylebone in an Instagram video this afternoon.
He said: “I just had to hide in a vault downstairs in a watch shop while it was smashed to pieces by armed robbers.
“Well, maybe not armed but they had huge jackhammers.
“I was picking up a vintage piece I’ve been waiting ages for when they drove a scooter through the glass and started battering the shop with huge hammers wearing helmets.
“We were in the back of the shop so we sprinted downstairs and hid in the vault until the noise passed. When we came upstairs the watches were all gone.”
Dramatic images showed the shop’s windows all smashed with displays emptied of watches and shattered glass all over the floor.
It was reported up to four offenders had raided the shop on three scooters, before escaping on two and leaving one behind outside the shop.
Spencer said in his video that he had been visiting the shop to buy a watch, and revealed that – to his amazement – the one he was after had not been taken by the robbers.
He said: “We were looking around and I was thinking ‘f*****g hell, the thing I’ve been waiting for has been nicked and I’m going to have to go get another one.’
“Then low and behold amongst all the rubble there’s one watch in the entire shop and it’s mine.
“If that’s not luck I don’t know what is.”
