Brian May 'grateful to be alive' as Queen star has 'mountain to climb' after heart attack

Brian May, 73, joined Good Morning Britain hosts Adil Ray, 46, and Charlotte Hawkins, 45, to discuss his first music project since suffering from a heart attack in May. The Queen guitarist had to undergo surgery to have three stents implemented into his body instead of opting for an open-heart operation. It wasn’t long before the musician was back producing music, but speaking on the ITV news show, the guest explained he still has a “big mountain to climb” as he continues to recover from his health scare.

Asked how he was doing in light of the heart attack, the Queen legend said he had suffered from some “pretty bad complications”.

Speaking about the difficulties of his recovery, the guest said he had an unfortunate reaction to the medication he was first put on.

He claimed he “nearly lost his life” as a result as he suffered a stomach haemorrhage and lost “a lot of blood” in the process.

The musician went on to explain how he is doing cardio rehab every day to improve his health before adding he was “So grateful to be alive.”

Brian told the presenters he would “soon be Iron Man” with all the exercise he is doing and he feels much better for it.
