Brigitte Macron, 66, wore a peach silk Louis Vuitton dress for the evening, pairing it with black accessories. Emmanuel Macron’s wife held a black silk clutch, which had a diamond clasp, in her hands. Two huge diamond rings – one also with sapphires – could be seen twinkling on her fingers. A pair of simple black court shoes completed the look.
Brigitte wore her blonde hair in an updo, with tendrils of hair pulled down to frame her face.
Her makeup was simple, with a sweep of bronzer and heavy mascara being the only noticeable elements.
Her nails were painted in an elegant pearlescent nude colour.
The Louis Vuitton dress stood out in a sea of darker colours, with the fitted shape showing off Brigitte’s trim figure.
Black zip details on the shoulder added a modern edge to the outfit.
Mum-of-two Brigitte greeted Donald Trump warmly with a kiss on the cheeks – the pair get on well, having met several times before.
In fact, Donald made it clear he was a fan of the French President’s wife during his first visit to the country in 2017, telling her “you’re in such good shape”.
The trip to Paris was such a success, Brigitte and Emmanuel were then invited to the White House last year.
Brigitte and Melania appeared to get on famously, even appearing to coordinate their outfits.
Following her trip, Brigitte spoke to the Guardian and revealed details of her trip, saying Melania “cannot do anything.” The former school teacher added: “She can’t even open a window at the White House. She can’t go outside.”
Brigitte Macron: Five facts about the French President’s wife
Brigitte Trogneux, as she was born, is the youngest of six children and grew up in Amiens, France.
Her parents were owners of Chocolaterie Trogneux, which had been run by five generations of the family and is now run by Brigitte’s nephew.
Before her marriage to the current French President, Brigitte was married to a banker, André-Louis Auzière.
The couple wed in June 1974 and had three children before finally divorcing in January 2006. She married Emmanuel in 2007.
Brigitte is famed for being her husband’s secondary school teacher, but she has had a varied working life.
In 1982 she was a press secretary at the Nord-Pas-de-Calais Chamber of Commerce, moving in to teaching two years later.
First Lady attempt
In 2017, Emmanuel made an attempt to give his wife an official paid role in French administration, as First Lady.
This was dashed, however, after an online petition against the move gained 300,000 signatures. Her role has stayed unofficial, although as with previous President’s wives, she does have a small team of staff.
The French luxury fashion house began a relationship with Brigitte in 2015, loaning her outfits for public appearances.
Speaking to business news magazine Challenges, her team confirmed: “Everything has been noted in a register and the loan outs have been systematically returned. And she only wears their outfits for public appearances.”
