Michael, from Wales, had only flown out to stay at The Playa Real Hotel in Costa Adeje four days prior.

It is understood a man, who is said to be a tourist, is being questioned by the Spanish Police.

Karen Hughes, the lad’s aunt, told The Rhy Journal: “Michael was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and now has been taken away from his family.

“We still haven’t got much detail about what happened, but we know he was attacked randomly in the street when he went to get some food.

“He didn’t have a bad bone in his body, he was always the person to step back and walk away.

“There’s nothing bad to say about him, he was the life and soul of the party and was so funny. It’s a total waste of a life.”

‘GONE TOO SOON’

Dozens of heartbreaking tributes have flooded in on Michael’s Facebook wall.

One friend, who was on holiday with him, wrote: “Being with you on this holiday has been a privilege, being your friend means more, we will truly miss you mate and we will get justice for you. Sleep tight Brillo mate.”

Another added: “You were such a lovely caring person and we’ve had many laughs. Sleep tight beautiful.”

One friend wrote: “A lovely man with a cracking smile. You always put a smile on my face, even when you were winding me up. Stolen from us at 23.

“We live in such a terrible cruel world. Rest easy fella, I’ll never forget ya.”

Michael was an apprentice for construction firm Brown & Carroll in London after being awarded a scholarship.

A GoFundMe has started to help raise money for the funeral costs.

It reads: “It is with the greatest regret that we have to inform everyone that Michael Lewis (Liam Boland) has sadly been taken cruelly from his family and friends.

“Liam/Michael was a very special person to many people, he was too young and innocent to leave us this way. We will miss him.”
