A GUNMAN opened fire at a family street party in Brooklyn, leaving one dead and 11 others injured, according to reports.
Cops are hunting for the shooter after gunfire erupted at the annual ‘Old Timers Day’ block party in Brownsville, New York, on Saturday.
The injured have been rushed to nearby Brookdale Hospital and to Kings County Hospital.
“I heard shots and I ducked,” said one 66-year-old man who attended the party.
“When I stuck my head up, and the smoke cleared, it was pure pandemonium,” said the man, who asked not to be named.
The party, which features concerts, food and exhibitions, is in its 56th year and attracts thousands of attendees.
Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted: “We had a terrible shooting in Brownsville tonight that shattered a peaceful neighbourhood event.
“Our hearts go out to the victims. We will do everything in our power to keep this community safe and get guns off our streets.”
