A DAD tackled a burglar who he caught allegedly raping his daughter and held him until police arrived, it was reported.
Police said the family were asleep when a man broke into the house in Perth, Western Australia and then made his way into the girl’s bedroom.
The father of the girl – who is under 13 – was woken by her screams and when he ran into her room he allegedly found the suspect standing over his daughter, the MailOnline reported.
After an altercation he held the intruder down until police officers arrived, early on Saturday morning.
The girl was taken to hospital but has since returned home and is now under the care of her family.
Western Australia’s Acting Assistant Commissioner Alan Morton described the incident as “traumatic”.
“Shortly after the commission of the sexual assault the father located the offender in the premises and detained the offender until police arrived,” he said, Perth Now reported.
“He was conveyed to hospital to ensure any medical attention was provided. He was released shortly after and deemed fit to be in police custody.
“As a senior police officer, as a member of the community and as the father of a young child myself, my thoughts are with the victim and the family.”
