Posting in a Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, one woman shared pictures of her stained carpet.
She asked for the best tips to get rid of nail polish marks.
The homeowner posted: “How do I remove nail polish (black) out of a cream carpet?”
There are lots of carpet cleaning products available in the supermarket.
However, social media users claimed pricey products may not be necessary.
Instead, they said simply using hairspray could remove marks from a carpet.
One wrote: “Spray with hairspray then use an non-acetone nail polish remover and cold water.
They said: “Hygiene has been at the forefront of people’s minds recently and many of us have been using our extra time at home to give it a thorough deep clean.
“It’s more important than ever to tackle dirt and germs.
“Bedroom carpets can be ten times dirtier than a toilet seat, so it’s really important to clean them regularly.
“At least once a week, give your carpets a good vacuum, and use natural cleaning sprays for a quick refresh.”
