Instagram cosmetics queen Elena Karimova, 27, suffocated her daughter, Khadizha, four, and son Suleiman, two, in the back seat of her rented Kia Rio last April.
Minutes earlier, the Russian divorcee was filmed buying lighter fuel – along with a Snickers bar for her children to share at a petrol station in n the city of Nizhny Novgorod, western Russia.
Two passing hunters saw her burning what they believed were dolls.
They thought Karimova was a “witch or psychic”, the judge told the trial.
She initially confessed to murdering her kids – but then claimed two men from Azerbaijan had killed them after she refused to reveal the location of her ex-husband.
Karimova’s account was dismissed and she was jailed for 19 years.
After leaving the petrol station, Karimova walked back to her hired car and strangled her kids as they sat on her lap in nearby woodland.
Judge Alexey Zavarikhin told the court: “Karimova covered her daughter’s mouth with her hand.
“She suffocated her daughter until she stopped twitching and resisting”
“She suffocated her daughter until she stopped twitching and resisting.
“The son at that time was sitting and watching how she killed his sister.”
The evil mum then “searched for a place where she could burn the bodies”.
Karimova was spotted building a fire by the hunters and loaded the charred corpses into her car and drove home.
The next day, she drove to an abandoned warehouse and set the bodies on fire again, burning the building in the process.
Shocked family members said her actions were “totally out of character” during the trial.
Her mum Natalia Testenkova claimed she was “the most loving mum” and asked: “How could she kill her kids?”
In her final address to the court, Testenkova said she let “the real killers escape and took the blame myself”.
She pleaded: “If I could only return there, I would find a way to escape and hide from them and save my children.
“I would not keep silent about the death of my kids in front of my eyes.”
