Conor McGregor announced his retirement from the UFC last week.
Within hours, WWE star Finn Balor teased his countryman could make a move to the premier wrestling corporation at its biggest event of the year – WrestleMania.
And legendary wrestler Christian Cage has now admitted an appearance of McGregor this Sunday at the MetLife Stadium is a possibility.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, he said: “I don’t think he will be in a WrestleMania match.
“But, off the top of my head, I would think he would be a guest referee.
“I think there would be some intrigue to it – we’ve seen the success from Ronda Rousey coming over.
“He has the right type of personality, the showmanship and skills on the microphone to make it a good thing.”
Christian – real name Jason Reso – worked in the WWE for 19 years.
He was most widely known for being one-half of tag team Edge and Christian, with real-life best friend Adam Copeland.
In a revealing interview, Christian also backed Daily Star Online’s campaign to install the British Bulldog into the Hall of Fame.
“Obviously he had a great career, and I was a huge British Bulldogs fan as a tag team,” he said.
“And I was a huge fan when he was a singles wrestler.
“I think he really was the face in WWE of being a British wrestler.
“As far as that goes, I think he should be [in the Hall of Fame].”
This year’s flagship event will feature an all-female fight as the main event, for the first time in WrestleMania’s history.
Former UFC star Ronda Rousey will defend her Raw women’s title and Charlotte Flair will put her Smackdown title on the line in a three-way bout with Becky Lynch.
