CRICKET bad boy Alex Hales is currently banned from playing having been caught using recreational drugs for the second time in his career.
England star Hales is hoping to play a major role for the national team in their bid to win the World Cup this summer.
But the 30-year-old is currently suspended having tested positive for use of recreational drugs earlier this year.
Hales was last week named in England’s preliminary squad for the World Cup and the batsman has the ability to be a major star in the tournament.
But he missed the start of the county season with his side Nottinghamshire, who last week announced he had “made himself unavailable for selection for personal reasons”.
No date was set for his return, but the Guardian have revealed the player is actually serving a 21-day suspension for his offence.
But despite not being allowed to play the game, it is still expected that Hales will link up with the rest of the England squad for a training camp in Cardiff this weekend.
It is disappointing news for a player who has courted controversy in the past with his antics off the field.
Only last year he was suspended and fined after he and England team-mate Ben Stokes were involved in a brawl in the street outside a Bristol nightclub in 2017 when they had been on international duty.
