Jorgelina Zalazar, 40, called the police after the attempted robbery on her San Miguel de Tucuman hairdressers in Argentina.
The footage shows Jorgelina striking the man with a metal pole.
A third person is seen trying to intervene, standing in between her and the suspected robber.
The police officers remain standing in the door and let the scene unfold.
The hairdresser then slaps the man twice in his face, followed by grabbing him by the scruff of his neck and pushes him over a sofa.
He is then led outside where he is quickly arrested.
During the incident, Jorgelina can be heard saying: “I am not like others, I am Jorgelina Zalazar, respect me!”
She captioned the video: “This daring man came in pretending he wanted a haircut and after washing his hair he tried to rob me.”
It is unclear if an investigation has been launched.
The hairdresser is said to have become the first transgender woman to receive her documentation confirming her sex after transitioning in the province of Tucuman, North-west Argentina in 2012.
Since uploading the video online, one person commented: “The police are clearly following the orders of the hairdresser.”
Another added: “Well deserved. Congratulations.”
