Dani Alves gets off to stunning start after scoring on Sao Paulo debut after snubbing Premier League transfer

BRAZILIAN legend Dani Alves enjoyed a fairy-tale start after scoring the winner on his Sao Paulo debut.

The right-back was available for nothing over the summer after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain came to an end.

Alves, 36, was linked with a sensational move to the Premier League with Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City.

But he eventually opted to see out his career at his boyhood club in Brazil where he wasted no time in making an instant impact.

Despite playing right-back throughout his career, Alves was given a role in midfield and it proved to be a masterstroke by the manager.

It took 40 minutes for the former Barcelona man to pounce after a cross from the right was failed to deal with by the Ceara defenders.

Bizarrely wearing the No10 shirt, the emotion was plain to see as Alves was mobbed by his team-mates in celebration.

It ended up being the only goal of the game as Sao Paulo got off to a winning start in the Brazilian Serie A.

Alves has enjoyed a highly-decorated career that has seen him with nine league titles and lift the Champions League on three occasions.
