David De Gea is yet to sign a new contract despite agent Jorge Mendes flying in to England for talks

De Gea’s agent Jorge Mendes was in Manchester this week to oversee a new £350,000-a-week contract.

United fully expect his signature on the fresh terms – but are waiting for the green light to confirm.

They are ready to give fans a massive boost ahead of the season by declaring De Gea’s commitment after massive uncertainty over his future last year.

Paris Saint-Germain were looking to pounce for the 28-year-old to replace Gianluigi Buffon.

United were under pressure to agree a new deal or risk losing their No1 for free next summer.

It means De Gea will pick up a £350,000-a-week deal after rejecting contract offers until a breakthrough was made over the summer.

He is set to start his ninth season at Old Trafford this week when he plays against Chelsea.
