DayZ is finally coming to PS4, nearly five years after it was first announced for the PlayStation console.
The unforgiven survival game was announced for Sony’s console all the way back in 2014.
It has since launched on Xbox One in Game Preview form, and made its full PC debut after leaving Early Access.
In an announcement that came out of the blue, Sony has confirmed that DayZ has a May 29 release date on PS4.
DayZ developer Bohemia Interactive will fully announce launch details in a stream later today (May 28).
The DayZ launch live stream will be available to view from 6pm UK time on Twitch. Check the tweet below for the link to the DayZ channel.
Express Online has contacted Bohemia Interactive directly to find out the DayZ price.
It’s currently available for £41.74 on Xbox One, so expect a price tag in the region of £39.99 on PS4.
Servers are expected to go online tomorrow morning, although we’ll update the article when times are confirmed.
DayZ is described as “an unforgiving, authentic, open world sandbox online game”.
With 60 players on a server, the aim is to survive for as long as possible and by any means necessary.
“There are no superficial tips, waypoints, built-in tutorials or help given to you,” Bohemia explains. “Every decision matters – with no save games, and no extra lives, every mistake can be lethal. If you fail, you lose everything and start over.
“Scavenging for supplies and roaming the open world never feels safe in DayZ, as you never know what’s behind the next corner.
“Hostile player interactions, or simply just struggling through severe weather can easily turn into intense, nerve-racking moments where you experience very real emotions.”
As the developer points out, DayZ players can also become friends, choosing to trade with each other, or double up to take on the rest of the map.
“Your choices and your decisions create a gameplay experience that’s completely unique and unequivocally personal – unmatched by any other multiplayer game out there,” the post continues.
“This is DayZ, this is your story.”
