Will Humphrey Goodman reunite with Camille Bordey?

Death in Paradise fans will remember the unrequited romance between Humphrey and Camille well.

When they both appeared in the early seasons of the show, the detective was enamoured with his detective sergeant.

Throughout the show, he kept this a secret until Camille announced she was leaving and taking an undercover job in Paris.

In season four, episode four, Camille passionately kissed Humphrey before she left the island of Saint Maire.

Many fans loved her exit but were always hopeful there could be a reconciliation between the pair.

Now it has been confirmed actor Sara Martins will be reprising her role, some will be wondering if this could also spell a return for Kris Marshall.

On November 18, the BBC confirmed Camille would be appearing in a two-episode storyline when her mother Catherine Bordey (Élizabeth Bourgine) lands herself in danger.

They teased: “To celebrate a decade of one of the most loved British crime dramas, Sara will appear in a special two-episode story.

Executive producer Tim Kay said: “When we were planning our 10th series, we knew we wanted to treat the audience to some massive surprises, and welcoming Sara back to the show after six years is one of the best.

“It’s a joy working with her again and we can’t wait for the audience to see what’s in store for Camille.

“Seeing her filming on the beach in Guadeloupe was one of my favourite moments this series, and the really cool thing is that there are still more surprises to come!”

While these surprises have not yet been confirmed, many will be hoping they include Humphrey’s return.

In the past, Marshall has also revealed he would be open to a return on the show.

He told a press at a screening of Sanditon in 2019: “Would I go back, and do a cameo in Death in Paradise? Unequivocally yes.”

Of course, those expecting a romantic reconciliation between the pair will need to remember Humphrey left to pursue love with Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton).

Therefore, this is definitely not guaranteed if he does make a comeback to the show.

Death in Paradise season 10 will air in early 2021.
