Denver ‘Patriot Rally’ shooter officially charged with murder

The security guard caught on video shooting a US Navy veteran dead at a Denver “Patriot Rally” was officially charged with second-degree murder on Monday, according to a report.

Matthew Dolloff, 30, was charged at 8:50 a.m. local time in Denver District Court, according to court records, and remains in jail without bail, 9News-TV in Denver reported.

Dolloff was working as a security guard for a 9News crew on Oct. 10 during the right-wing demonstration when he got into a beef with 49-year-old Lee Keltner, who had attended the rally at Denver’s Civic Center Park with his son.

Footage from the encounter shows Keltner slap Dolloff in the face, with the guard then pulling a handgun from his waistband and shooting Keltner once just as the Navy vet directed pepper spray at him.

Keltner collapsed and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Dolloff surrendered at the scene and has since been held in jail.

City prosecutors announced last week that he would be charged Monday.

The TV station said it hired Dolloff through the famed Pinkerton detective agency, but the agency said he worked for a subcontractor.

According to 9News, the station was not aware that Dolloff was armed.
