Doctor turned comedian Adam Kay wants YOU to nominate your health hero in The Sun’s Who Cares Wins awards

DOES your dedicated doctor deserve a medal? Whether it’s a GP, consultant, surgeon or a junior doctor, we want to know how they have made a difference to your life – and they could be crowned Best Doctor at our Who Cares Wins awards.

Doctor turned comedian and author Adam Kay today calls on Sun readers to put forward their hard-working health heroes for one of our brilliant awards.

Adam’s NHS memoir This Is Going To Hurt topped bestseller lists and recounts funny stories of his time as a junior doctor, before he left medicine to pursue a career as a writer and stand-up comedian.

I’M confident that every single person reading this loves the NHS. But when you’re working on the front line, you don’t always necessarily experience that love.

You are much more likely to hear “Do you know how long I’ve been waiting?” than “Thanks for your help”.

But when you do get those little fist-bumps — whether it’s a quick thank you or a box of chocolates — they honestly make such a difference.

I am so very proud to support the Who Cares Wins health awards, where you can give an enormous pat on the back to the people who go beyond the call of duty.

Pay tribute to a healthcare worker by nominating them for an award

The NHS is an enormous jigsaw of professions — each of them crucial and a lot of them often forgotten about.

Is it the receptionist at your GP surgery who moves heaven and earth to get you seen?

Or the midwife who stayed an extra five hours to be with you right until your baby was born?

It won’t take long to nominate them — and I promise you will make their year.

  • Adam’s new book Twas The Nightshift Before Christmas will be published on October 17.

STRICTLY’S Shirley Ballas backs our awards too. She says:

“I don’t have enough words to express my love and gratitude to the NHS and the incredible staff who dedicate their lives to working so tirelessly for us.

“They have been there for me and my loved ones and I am so thankful.

“The NHS is one of our country’s greatest institutions. I’m proud to support the awards and celebrate these fantastic people.”
