AS the residents of Albert Square reel from the brutal attack on Phil Mitchell next week, a shock arrest is made while he’s left fighting for his life.
With Phil – played by Walford legend Steve McFadden – in hospital, those involved in his attack begin to panic and try to cover the truth.
But as tensions run high, people start to point fingers.
And as one local gets arrested for the assault, another resorts to shocking and dangerous lengths to cover their tracks.
As the Mitchell clan rally around Phil’s bedside, his life hanging in the balance, one person learns a shocking truth that leaves them speechless.
Meanwhile, the police close in on a suspect as the evidence against them stacks up.
Later, the police arrive in Walford looking for the person they suspect attacked Phil. But have they got it right this time?
Even though Phil’s attack hasn’t aired yet, fans are already theorising who could be responsible for it.
Viewers think ex Lisa Fowler could be returning to finish off the job she started 18 years ago, in the famous ‘Who Shot Phil?’ storyline.
The long-running soap teased an image of Walford’s favourite mechanic bloodied, beaten and left for dead leading to another ‘whodunnit’ – but soap theorists are convinced the culprit hasn’t changed from last time.
With Lisa – played by actress Lucy Benjamin – scheduled to return in the next few weeks, fans think she’ll be back to ‘finish the job’.
“Are we sure it won’t be Lisa Fowler who attacks Phil next week? #EastEnders,” mused one on Twitter.
Writing on a fan forum, one viewer wrote: “Imagine if Lisa returned tonight and then is responsible for Phil’s attack next week. What an icon.”
And another referenced Lisa’s previous murder attempt, adding: “It’s Lisa! She’s back to finish off her failed attempt when She shot him!!”
Another theory is that Bobby Beale is the one to leave Phil hospitalised.

One viewer speculated: “I think Phil Mitchell gets done in by the least expected person.
“BOBBY Beale when he is spotted beating Ben up, yea that’s it.”
Phil’s attack will air tonight on BBC One.
