‘It is time to break this statistic’: Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti urges his side to FINALLY win a game without Richarlison as league leaders prepare for trip to Newcastle without star Brazilian
- Everton will be without influential midfielder Richarlison as they face Newcastle
- The Toffees are winless without the Brazilian since his arrival at the club in 2018
- Boss Carlo Ancelotti wants his side to end that run in the Premier League clash
- Ancelotti has taken the club to the top of the league but says they are vulnerable
Carlo Ancelotti challenged Everton’s players to show they can win without Richarlison as they look to capitalise on their rivals’ commitments in Europe.
Everton have never won a game that the Brazilian has missed. He has been at the club since July 2018 and Ancelotti says it is time for that to change, starting at Newcastle on Sunday.
Everton are top of the league and Ancelotti believes the burden that is on the clubs around them, with so much travel and so many games before Christmas, could leave them vulnerable in the Premier League.
Carlo Ancelotti says Everton can earn a win for the first time without Richarlison this weekend
He said: ‘It can be an advantage. The top teams have a really difficult schedule. I agree we can take advantage on the physical aspect of the work.
‘But I think that we did better when we had games every three days! Maybe from a physical point of view we have an advantage, for sure.
‘I know this statistic and I can say to two things — that Richarlison is a really important player for us, and the club, and second it is time to win to break this statistic.
‘It is the time – it really is the time.’
Richarlison is a key star and Ancelotti does not want the Toffees to come unstuck without him
