And now fans are urging the creators to tell them what happened on Uncle Bryn’s mysterious camping trip with nephew Jason one-off special.

Writers James and Ruth have given away clues about what happened but have never revealed the truth.

What we do know about the fishing trip debacle is that it involved soup, “defies the laws of gravity” and happened because it was cold.

It’s also heavily hinted that it involves nudity and Bryn confirmed that it is “legal in Wales”.

Speaking in a 2011 interview, Ruth said of the fishing trip: “In the last episode of Gavin and Stacey we wrote into the script a flashback which explained what happened on the fishing trip but it didn’t make it into the final cut.

“It’s still out there somewhere on some computer. I’m a big fan of people using their imaginations.”

Meanwhile, James tweeted a snap of a new Gavin & Stacey script as he shared the exciting news with fans on Monday.

He said: “Ruth Jones and I have been keeping this secret for a while…

“We’re excited to share it with you. See you on Christmas Day ⁦@BBCOne⁩ #GavinandStacey.”

James – who now hosts The Late Late Show in the US – wrote the hit series alongside co-star Ruth.

It ran for three series on the BBC – plus a Christmas Special – from 2007 until 2010.

In a statement, the pair said: “Over the last ten years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they might be today and what their lives might look like.

“And so in secret we took the plunge and wrote this one hour special. We’ve loved revisiting Barry and Essex again and bringing the characters back together has been a joy.
