Lois Burr was on holiday in Brit hotspot Magaluf when she tried to stop a fight on the strip.
The 26-year-old from Hull said she raised her hand to try and stop a woman brawling in the Spanish resort.
But instead of calming things down, her gesture had the opposite effect.
She said the woman grabbed her hair and sank her teeth down into her finger on the last night of Lois’ holiday.
On the flight home she realised she had been bitten with such force her finger was broken.
She said: “She was an absolute animal. She grabbed my hair and I could instantly feel her teeth sinking into my finger.
“One of her pals got her off me, there was blood pouring from my hands.
“it happened on the final night of our holiday.
“She was an absolute animal”
“One of our friends had been sitting outside the bar terrace before a group of around five girls became concerned for her safety.”
A local who had watched the incident unfold helped patch up Lois’ finger before she got home.
UK doctors told Lois she may need surgery to fix her right index finger and injections for a year.
She added: “I’ve needed injections. I will continue to now need them over the course of the year.
“I am on antibiotics and I am in severe pain from the injuries sustained that morning.
“I’m going back in today to get more injections and get my nail bed fixed.
“It may need surgery but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.”
Lois has now urged holidaymakers going abroad to report crimes to the local police.
She also said: “It wasn’t until I got home I realised there wasn’t anything that could be done from the UK.
“If anyone is in a similar situation I would urge them to report the matter to local police urgently.
“Given I’ve now got to get further injections over the year there is no closure to the matter. The woman who did this is an absolute animal.”
