Brian Cromby was caught out by undercover reporters.
He was recorded saying: “All you have to say is you had the s***s for a week and that’s it and I’ll get you £2,000.
“It’s as simple as that, yeah? £2,000, that’s the average pay cheque. If you want to say you were sick for 10 days or two weeks, I’ll get you £3,000.”
The 34-year-old fraudster claimed to run a legitimate claims management company – RTA Solutions.
But the firm was a con and instead coached people what to tell lawyers.
RTA Solutions even sponsored a cancer charity’s boxing match, then used it to drum up fake claims. Cromby had previously pleaded guilty to encouraging an offence.
He was jailed for 12 months at Liverpool Crown Court.
Judge David Aubrey told Cromby: “It was a sham. It was a scam and at the very least it was promoting or encouraging dis-honest civil claims.”
