How David Beckham and Michael Owen would look like in 2020 prediction from 1998 — and Photoshop is WAY off

THEY are the golden-oldie generation of England football stars.

Back in 1998, footie mag FourFourTwo magazine used fledgling technology to predict how Three Lions aces of that year’s World Cup in France – such as David Beckham and Steve McManaman – would look like in 2020.

David Beckham back in 1998 compared with the mags ageing prediction and how the 43-year-old really looks today

Today we can reveal the results and just how far off the mark they were.

Beckham, 43, who still looks stylish and youthful, is missing teeth, thinning grey hair and has wrinkled skin in the wayward prediction.

While ex Liverpool winger McManaman, 47, sports a tash and a mullet in his 2020 predictions – a far cry from his current look.

Today The Sun on Sunday has used the same software progression software on some the other England World Cup ‘98 aces – and show just how close, or off target, to reality the predictions are.

See how they look in our series of football-style cards.

Software piled on the pounds but Michael has kept them off
Rio Ferdinand has more hair in recent years, not less!
Steve still has similar hair to his 1998 look – not the naff style from the mag
Paul has steered clear of the tash and the wrinkles – mostly
Gareth Southgate doesn’t have the tash he was predicted
