Creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris are getting advice from the Kop boss who is also a hotshot telly exec.
The American has promised to help out BBC Two’s Afternoons by sharing tales of his time at Anfield.
News of his involvement has fuelled speculation that its three main characters could be modelled on Anfield stars such as Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
Executive producer Tom said: “I have been friendly with Iain and Damon for quite a while, and I have longed to work with the two of them as they are such brilliant comedy writers.
“I hope my experience with Liverpool can provide some authenticity and humour to what is a very exciting format.”
The series will follow the off-the-pitch antics of three young players at a fictional football club.
The hapless trio are described as “boys from around the world who are far less proficient with women, money and social media than they are at scoring goals.”
It is the first time Damon and Iain have worked together since their hit series and films about teens Will, Jay, Simon and Neil.
