Meghan Markle – who seven-months pregnant – is reported to have told friends the gender of her first child at her lavish New York baby shower.
The Duchess of Sussex, 37, jetted off to the Big Apple last week for five nights of shopping and pampering.
And a source close to one of the party goers said Meghan was telling guests her baby will be a boy.
“She was talking openly about it,” the source told The Mail on Sunday.
Meghan has previously said that she does not want to know the baby’s gender and a Kensington Palace confirmed this was still the case.
The source added that, regardless of the baby’s gender, Meghan is determined to break from the idea of “pink for a girl, blue for a boy”, believing it to be old-fashioned.
Instead, Meghan will take a “fluid” approach such as using gender-neutral colours for the nursery.
Almost immediately after Markle’s pregnancy was announced, people started placing bets on what they thought the baby’s gender would be and for months the most popular pick had been a girl.

In January, a spokesperson for the Irish betting site Paddy Power noted that the pattern of betting gave reason to believe Markle and Harry would be welcoming a daughter.
“The flow of bets over the course of today has been almost as heavy as the general goodwill towards the couple — and we’re now convinced they’re having a girl,” the spokesman said.
While most people had money on girl for quite a while that all changed in February.
But the bets shifted by the middle of the month from a girl to a boy.
The duke and duchess said that even they don’t know the gender.
At the Endeavour Fund Awards last month, Meghan was heard saying that she and Harry did not want to find out the sex prior to the baby’s birth.
“We don’t know,” the prince’s wife was heard saying when asked what she was having, before adding, “We decided to keep it a secret.”
Not finding out the child’s gender is common with royals.
“She wasn’t hiding it”
Prince William and Kate Middleton also reportedly didn’t know the sex of their children before they were born and even if they did it is against royal protocol to reveal that information to the public before the child has arrived.
Meghan takes her last flights this weekend before the birth of baby Sussex in April.
She and Harry will visit Morocco for a three-day visit on behalf of the British government.
