Ivanka Trump U-turn: First Daughter's unbelievable claim about future career laid bare

Ivanka Trump is US President Donald Trump’s second eldest child Trump siblings. She has risen to prominence during her father’s first presidential term. Currently described as being an “advisor to the president” many are still confused by Ivanka’s role in government.

According to the White House website, “she focuses on the education and economic empowerment of women and their families as well as job creation and economic growth through workforce development, skills training and entrepreneurship”.

Before taking on the role, she worked for the family real estate business along with her brothers Don Trump Jr and Eric Trump.

It is a cause that many members of the Trump family have been involved with, and one in which Ivanka herself said she had been destined for since “inception” during a 2010 HuffPost interview.

When reporter Baruch Shemtov asked when it was that she became interested in the career, Ivanka made the bizarre claim.

She said: “I don’t know if there was ever a point in my life when I thought that I would take another road.

“Pretty much since inception was this something I wanted to do.

“I think part of it is hereditary.

“I think part of it is that my family for so many generations on my mother’s side as well as my father’s have been involved in development, building and engineering, construction.

Her presence there caused a social media firestorm, with many criticising the White House for sending an unelected member of government to discuss issues on behalf of the US.

It left the White House defending her corner, branding the criticisms as bullying.

Since Trump’s inauguration in 2017 Ivanka has been given credit anonymously for encouraging the president to launch retaliatory strikes on Syria for its use of chemical weapons.

Her influence is also thought to have curtailed the US’ policy of separating migrant families at the US-Mexico border.

Yet, where her opinion seems to have faltered is in the president’s climate policies.

Trump has continued to cut environmental regulations throughout his first term.

He withdrew the US from the Paris Climate Agreement in 2017, much to the dismay of Ivanka.

There are areas where Ivanka appears to support her father, however.

In July, they were both criticised after they endorsed a Hispanic food company on social media.

It came after the head of Goya Foods expressed his support for Trump, prompting calls to boycott the company.

Their promotion of the brand immediately raised concerns over ethics violations.

As an employee of the government, Ivanka is barred from using public office to endorse products or bolster personal business interests.
