Jesy Nelson said she 'needed time off' from Little Mix before 'extended break' announced

Just before Jesy Nelson, 29, decided to take an “extended break” from Little Mix for “private medical reasons”, she admitted the pop girl group “needed” time off. The Holiday hitmaker and the band have been “busy” with their BBC show The Search and promoting their sixth album Confetti.

Jesy stressed how busy she and the girls, Perrie Edwards, 27, Jade Thirlwall, 27, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 29, were once the first lockdown ended, before she announced her “break” for health reasons.

The singer said the group was in need of some time apart because they are often working together every day.

This week, it was confirmed Jesy will be taking an “extended break”, after she missed out on appearing at the MTV EMAs and in the final of The Search.

Speaking about having time apart, the star said: “It was needed. We’re never not with each other and we’re always busy.

“Our mornings start early, we finish really late,” she added in an interview with You magazine.

It comes just a day after Jesy’s bandmate Jade shared a cryptic message on Instagram about how “pain eases”.

Jade also touched on “trying to leave” amid reports of the band going their separate ways next year.

The Shout Out To My Ex singer first took to her Instagram story to share the message, which has now been deleted.

“The deepest cuts are the best ones on the album. They don’t ask for approval. Take longer to love. Pain’s a pallet cleanser. A ticket out of delusion.”

Express.co.uk previously contacted Jade’s representatives for comment.

In a statement, the band’s representative said: “Jesy is having extended time off from Little Mix for private medical reasons.

“We will not be issuing any further comment currently and ask media to please respect her privacy at this time.”

This week, reports claimed the band members are considering solo careers next year.

They are said to have had meetings with industry bosses as well as new managers and agents.

A source told the Sun: “The girls have been open and honest with each other, and with their current management team.

“They have started discussions with some prospective managers and agents about what their solo careers might look like.

“Some of the girls might end up taking on solo projects with their current management team too. But this isn’t about ending the band, it’s about looking to the future.”

Express.co.uk previously contacted Little Mix’s representative for comment.
