Jets season-ticket holders have options for 2020

Jets season-ticket holders can sit out this uncertain season.

The team informed its season-ticket fan base by email Monday that they can skip the 2020 season without penalty, choosing either to be refunded for payments already made while maintaining the option to renew tickets in 2021, or to defer the payment as a credit toward 2021 season tickets.

The Jets deferred the due date for the scheduled July payment, just as they have done since April in response to the economic fallout caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Giants set up the same options for their season ticket holders last week. It is a fan-friendly and common-sense approach given it is no guarantee the season will start on time or be played in full.

There remains a possibility of playing games in fan-less stadiums, at least at the start of the season, even though the NFL is charging forward with business as usual toward July 28 training camps.

The Yankees and Mets have made it more difficult for season-ticket holders to get refunds, even though more than half of the Major League Baseball regular season was canceled.
