Joe Swash speaks out for first time on Stacey Solomon fleeing home: ‘She gets worked up'

Joe Swash, 38, has admitted his girlfriend Stacey Solomon’s moment of panic while he was away from home last month made him “feel wanted”. The former EastEnders actor was spending time with his son, Harry, 13, from a previous relationship, that day, which left Stacey facing an evening alone with their one-year-old baby Rex.

Stacey also didn’t have her older sons Zachary, 12, and eight-year-old Leighton, for company, as they were staying with their fathers at the time.

Unfortunately for the Loose Women panellist, she became too frightened to sleep alone and fled the family home to stay with her sister alongside her dog Theo and baby Rex after “the slightest noise or shadow” gave her “the creeps”.

Joe has now spoken out on the situation for the first time in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.

When quizzed on whether he was worried about his girlfriend, the Dancing on Ice winner divulged: “It’s something that Stacey does every now and again.

He added: “It’s one of the reasons that I decided not to do the jungle, I’m A Celebrity, was because of time away and the distance from the kids.

“They only have one little childhood, so I want to be part of that childhood as much as possible.”

The television personality quit the ITV2 show after 10 years of working on it last year.

He announced the news in a statement, which read: “I can’t believe I’m about to say this… For 10 incredible years I’ve been lucky enough to host my favourite show on telly.

“Being a part of the I’m a Celebrity After Show has been everything I could have dreamed of and more.

“But I’ve come to the decision that this year I’m going to have to leave my jungle family and stay home with my wonderful real family.

“I don’t want to miss a second with Stacey and our amazing boys so 3 months in Australia just seems too much to bear this year.”

Joe added: “I’m so grateful for everything the jungle has given me and for all of the people who have took me under their wing and given me memories to last a lifetime. I’ve made some unbelievable friends in fact family in oz and I’ll miss you all terribly.”
