John Lundstram’s time at Sheffield United looks to be coming to an end after talks to extend the midfielder’s deal at Bramall Lane broke down, according to reports.

The 26-year-old is in the final year of his deal with the Blades and has been offered a new long-term contract to stay, with manager Chris Wilder keen to keep him.

Crystal Palace and Burnley are ready to offer Lundstram the chance of staying in the Premier League should he decide to leave once the window reopens.

Steven Gerrard is also reportedly interested in bringing the midfielder to Rangers, with the Liverpool legend also looking at Jack Wilshere to help plug a hole in the middle of the park.

Should Lundstram fail to reach an agreement over a new deal before the new year, he will be able to discuss moves to foreign club from then on.

Lundstram, who rose through the ranks at Everton before being shipped out on loan a number of times, moved to Bramall Lane in 2017, where he helped the club achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2019.

He has made 94 appearances for the Blades, where he has scored eight goals and registered seven assists, while becoming an integral part of Wilder’s team.

The Liverpool-born midfielder has featured in all six of the club’s Premier League games this season.
