Prime Minister Boris Johnson explained the UK Government would be relaxing coronavirus measures greatly from July 4th. This included the reduction of the 2-metre social distancing rules and the opening of pubs, hairdressers, cinemas and museums in early July. During the Tuesday coronavirus briefing, Mr Johnson reiterated these upcoming changes again and praised the NHS for working throughout the coronavirus crisis.
Mr Johnson also explained the data that had supported the Government’s ability to now relax certain coronavirus measures.
He said: “The thing that is really changing at the moment is not just that we have got the R down.
“We are also seeing a reduction in the incidence of the disease throughout the population.
“Four weeks ago or so it was 1 in 400 it is now 1 in 1700.”
“Your chances of coming into physical proximity with somebody else who has the virus, as those chances go down, of course, there will be further opportunities to vary our guidances to get back to normal.”
