CLEANING-MAD Brits cannot get enough of multi-purpose products. This week shoppers raced to Home Bargains stores to nab the new Zoflora Mandarin & Lime disinfectant for £1.99, thanks to the multi-tasker being a favourite of cleaning whizz Mrs Hinch.
Whether you are buying that, or one of the other brilliant dupes, here are tips on how to make scent-sational savings around your home . . .
WHAT A BEAUTY: Make-up bags can harbour all sorts of bacteria, but you can quickly remedy this by using a cloth soaked in diluted Zoflora to regularly wipe your bag out — you can also do the same for make-up packaging. If your supermarket does not stock Zoflora, or you fancy a larger bottle, you can nab the equally sweet-smelling option of Dettol Lavender & Orange Oil, £2 for 250ml, from Sainsbury’s.
AIR WE GO: As a cheap alternative to air fresheners and to save time, pour a capful of the floral Zoflora, £1.30 at Tesco, into your washing-up bowl and add boiling water — it will make your kitchen smell lovely and disinfect the sink at the same time. To make even more of your capful, pop your dirty dishcloths in the water and leave overnight — they will be cleaned ready for the next day and your whole kitchen will be fresh smelling.
PRESSIE AND CORRECT: Dab some on a piece of cotton wool and store alongside your birthday cards, or go the extra mile and dilute the same fragrance with water and use a trigger spray to lightly spritz your wrapping paper. This works out cheaper than using a perfume or expensive scented paper and leaves gifts smelling amazing. I like Poundland’s £1 dupe, Flowora, in the Country Escape scent.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY FRAGRANCE: Save on stocking up on multiple products for pets and babies by using Zoflora, or switching to Home Bargains’ cheaper alternative, Fabulosa, at 99p a bottle, if you want to save even more.
Diluted with water, both products are great for disinfecting kids’ nurseries and pet areas. Use to clean the potty, changing mat, cot mattress and nappy bin.
