Kim Jong-un wears £10k watch BANNED in his own country at missile test amid North Korean food shortages

KIM Jong-un has been photographed with a £10,000 watch in another brazen defiance of sanctions against his regime.

The UN banned luxury goods from entering North Korea to punish the rogue state for its nuke tests.

But specialists in neighbouring South Korea have identified a rare unisex IWC Portofino Automatic Swiss watch on the dictator’s wrist.

It comes as North Koreans face deepening food shortages brought on by the worst drought in more than 35 years.

Watch specialist Kim Chang-kyu said: “The bezel ratio and appearance of the lug on Kim Jong-un’s watch matches a Portofino Automatic.

“The location of the date window and shape of the logo are also identical.”

It comes only days North Korea mocked UN sanctions by opening the Daesong Department Store in Pyongyang.

The John Lewis-style shop flogged Western brands like Rolex, Adidas, and Dike.

Brands which were thought to be unobtainable under the new restrictions, which cut off North Korean exports and 90 per cent of its trade.

But a US Advanced Defence Studies report found that North Korea has ‘sophisticated procurement capabilities’ to meet its demand for luxuries.

It stated: “The Kim regime continues to maintain sophisticated procurement capabilities through US-allied countries despite sanctions.
