Lidl stuns with £13.49 whisky that's named 'best in the world'


Lidl’s affordable whiskey has been named the “best in the world”.

The spirit impressed judges at the World Whiskies Award, triumphing over bottles that were double the price.

So how can you get your hands on the posh tipple?

Lidl is flogging its 8 Year Blended Scotch Whisky for £13.49.

The Queen Margot spirit was expertly created using traditional methods and fine methods.

Bottles were bellowed in oak casks for eight years, giving the booze a smooth texture and warm finish.

The aromatic drink is said to have fruity notes of dried apricot and plum.

It has also been praised for its rich sweetness and depth of flavour.

At the World Whiskies Award, Lidl’s product earned the coveted Best Scotch Whisky.

It beat pricier bottles, including Johnnie Walker Black Label.

This isn’t the only alcoholic accolade the supermarket has won in recent months.

Previously, it was voted the Own Brand Gin Supermarket of the Year at Gin Magazine’s Icons of Gin awards.
